Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
