An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two boys both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on recently.
However, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated items including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated Ruben continued to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson called the law enforcement once more.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five minors.
